 Lance Naik Albert Ekka

👉Albert Ekka, son of Julius Ekka and Maryam Ekka, was born in a tribal family on December 27, 1942 in a village called Jari located in Gumla district of Jharkhand.
👉At the age of 20, he joined the 14th Battalion of the 'Brigade of Guards'.
👉During the 1971 war, a battalion named '14 Guards' had to capture an enemy position at Gangasagar, 6 km west of Agartala, Tripura on the Eastern Front. This place was on an important railway link to Dacca (now known as Dhaka).
👉He was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his courageous actions on the Eastern Front. This was the only Param Vir Chakra awarded for the war on the Eastern Front.
👉The Army Postal Service issued a special postal cover on December 3, 1978, to honour him.
50th Republic Day in the year 2000.
👉A block (sub-division) in his home district 'Gumla' was named 'Albert Ekka Block' after him.
