 Indian Language Day

👉The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed all higher education institutions to celebrate 'Indian Language Day' on 11 December. This day is a day of 'language harmony' and creating a supportive environment for learning.
👉Following the recommendations of the Indian Language Committee, the Commission has written a letter in this regard to the Vice Chancellors and Principals of all universities and colleges. The Indian Languages Committee was formed by the Education Ministry last year.
👉The Bhasha Samiti (Language Committee) proposed the date of December 11 as 'Bharatiya Bhasha Diwas' or 'Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav' as the day marks the birth anniversary of Subramania Bharati, the foremost poet of modern Tamil poetry. Subramania Bharati wrote songs to encourage patriotism during the freedom movement.
