World Rhino Day
✅World Rhino Day is observed every year on 22 September to spread awareness about the care, protection and conservation of rhinos.✅Theme of World Rhino Day 2023– Greater One-horned Rhino.
✅It may be noted that for the first time in the year 2010, the World Wildlife Fund-Africa started celebrating World Rhino Day on 22 September.
✅To promote the conservation and breeding of rhinos in India, India's first National Rhino Breeding and Conservation Center has been set up in Patna, the capital of Bihar, with the help of the Central Government.
✅Rhino is a mammal and herbivore. There are five species of rhinos in the world (Black Rhino, White Rhino, One-horned Rhino, Sumatran Rhino and Java Rhino), out of which two are found in Africa and three in South Asia.
✅The Indian Rhino is the largest in size among the Asian Rhinos.
✅Indian Rhino was earlier found from Sindh province of Pakistan to Nepal, Bhutan, India and Myanmar but currently it is found in Kaziranga National Park located in Assam, India. Apart from this, some rhinos are also found in Dudhwa National Park of Uttar Pradesh.
✅In India, rhinos were also found in the Terai region of Bengal and Uttar Pradesh till the year 1850.
