Haifa Day 🇮🇳
💠Every year 23 September is observed as Haifa Day by the Indian Army.💠The main objective of Haifa Day is to pay respect to the Indian soldiers who fought in the Battle of Haifa.
💠The Battle of Haifa took place on September 23, 1918, in which soldiers from Jodhpur, Mysore and Hyderabad, who were part of the 15 Imperial Service Cavalry Brigade, took part in the First World War on behalf of the Allies and liberated the 'City of Haifa' of Israel, occupied by Germany and Turkey.
💠Captain Aman Singh Bahadur and Dafadar Jor Singh were awarded the Indian Order of Merit and Captain Anoop Singh and Second Lieutenant Sagat Singh were awarded the Military Cross for bravery in the war.
💠44 Indian soldiers were martyred in this war.
💠Major Dalpat Singh Shekhawat of Jodhpur led the group of Indian soldiers in the Battle of Haifa and is known as the 'Hero of Haifa' for playing an important role in the war.
💠To honor the soldiers who fought in this war, the Government of India had renamed the famous Teen Murti Memorial in Delhi as Teen Murti Haifa Memorial.
