World Humanitarian Day

▪️Every year on 19th August 'World Humanitarian Day' is observed all over the world.
▪️The theme of this day for the year 2023 is “It takes a village”.
▪️This day marks the respect of people working for the cause of humanity. Also, it is a symbol of the sacrifice of those humanitarian workers, who dedicated their lives in works for human needs etc.
▪️On August 19, 2003, there was an attack on the United Nations Headquarters in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, in which 22 humanitarian aid workers were killed. Five years later, the General Assembly adopted a resolution to designate 19 August as World Humanitarian Day (WHD).
▪️According to the Humanitarian Needs Overview 2021, 20.7 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance.
