"लक्ष्मीबाई का रूप धार, झलकारी खड़ग सवार चली।
वीरांगना निर्भय लश्कर में, शस्त्र-अस्त्र तन धार चली।।"

The great warrior Jhalkari Bai was the trusted advisor of Rani Laxmibai and the commander of 'Durga Dal' in the army.
•She was born on 22 November 1830 in a village called Bhojla near Jhansi.
•In her childhood itself, she had learned the art of using weapons and horse riding.
•She was married to a soldier named Puran Kori, from whom Jhalkari Bai received training in wrestling, archery and shooting.
•During the Revolution of 1857, Jhalkari Bai was given the leadership of a women's military contingent.
•In 1857 AD, when General Hugh Rose attacked the Jhansi fort, Jhalkari Bai advised the queen to leave and along with her husband resisted the British.
•She took command of the army in the guise of Rani Laxmibai and fought the British.
•The story of this indomitable bravery of Jhalkari Bai is still alive in the memory of the people of Bundelkhand and India.
