 World Post Day 


▪️'World Post Day' is organized every year on 9 October across the world.
▪️The purpose of World Post Day is to raise awareness about the role of post in the daily lives, business and social and economic development of people around the world.
▪️This year its theme is 'Together for trust: Collaborating for a safe and connected future'.
▪️World Post Day is observed to commemorate the establishment of the 'Universal Postal Union' (UPU) in the year 1874 in 'Bern', the capital of Switzerland.
▪️It was declared as 'World Post Day' by the 'Universal Postal Union' Congress held in Tokyo (Japan) in the year 1969.
▪️'Universal Postal Union' focuses on a global communication revolution which aims to develop a culture of correspondence among people across the world.
▪️In India, Sher Shah Suri first started postal service through horses in the year 1541 between Bengal and Sindh (for a distance of 2000 miles).
▪️Robert Clive established a regular postal system in the year 1766. India joined the 'Universal Postal Union' (UPU) in the year 1876.
