World Tourism Day 

🔹 World Tourism Day is observed every year on 27 September.

🔹 The theme of Tourism Day 2023 is 'Tourism and Green Investments'.

🔹 The United Nations World Tourism Organization has handed over the hosting of World Tourism Day, 2023 to Saudi Arabia.

🔹 It was started by the United Nations in the year 1980. The purpose of celebrating World Tourism Day is to make people around the world aware of tourism.

🔹 The reason behind celebrating this day on 27th September is that on this day in the year 1970, the statutes of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) were adopted. Five years later, UNWTO was established in the year 1975 and five years later, World Tourism Day was started.

🔹 In 1997, UNWTO, at its fifth session in Istanbul, Turkey, decided that each year one country would host World Tourism Day.
